Legal and Compliance Officer

Thandie Maina is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a strong foundation in banking, finance, and real estate law. She currently serves as the Legal and Compliance Officer at Rock Investment Bank, where she advises on complex financial transactions, conducts legal due diligence, and ensures compliance with applicable Kenyan regulatory frameworks. Her role also involves supporting transaction structuring, managing legal and regulatory risk, and providing guidance on the Rock Investment Bank’s corporate and investment activities.

Thandie has developed experience in financial services regulation, anti-money laundering (AML), and commercial law through her work in both in Mohammed Muigai LLP and in-house at Bank of Africa Kenya Limited. She is particularly interested in legal and compliance functions within investment banking, with a focus on regulatory compliance, risk management, and corporate governance.

She holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from Strathmore University, a Postgraduate Diploma from the Kenya School of Law, and has undertaken training in arbitration through the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb). She is also pursuing the Certified Secretaries (CS) qualification.

Thandie is detail-oriented, commercially aware, and committed to upholding high standards of legal and regulatory compliance in dynamic financial environments.
